Frequently Asked Questions
What is the membership term?
Membership is a lifetime term which renews automatically each year. Members may resign their membership.
How many driving days are available per year?
We have a calendar of over 100 available days for members! We plan to continue to offer close to that each year, weather permitting. We are typically open from early April to Early November.
There will also be access on some additional evenings until sunset.
Do I need a racing license?
No prior driving experience is necessary. Instructors are available to work with drivers of all skill level.
What can I drive on track?
Members can drive any vehicle as long as it passes a safety inspection. Dedicated track cars are not required.Most members will be driving street cars such as Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, Lotus, Mazda, and many others. Open top cars must have suitable roll over protection from the factory or aftermarket roll bars. Club vehicles are available to rent per day for those that do not have their own car yet.
How is a member day structured?
Most days are OPEN TRACK, meaning 9am-5pm typically the track is open with no structured sessions or breaks. Some member days may vary based on the number of cars and experience level of the members attending. Some days, for safety of all members the day may be broken in to 2 or 3 sessions. On occasion, there may be an open lapping day or driving school operating opposite member sessions.
What happens if it rains?
Typically members prefer to drive in nice weather, but we will run rain or shine if members want to drive. Members can also plan to come on the next available day since there are so many days available to members. If you do not want to run in the rain, you won’t have to feel pressured to do so like you would in an HPDE event.
Why join as a member?
Membership allows for more open access and flexibility that an HPDE or typical track day. Track time on your schedule. As a member you have access to more days at Palmer than any single car club. On member days, track time is practically unlimited in either an open track format or with 2 rotating sessions. A typical car club day is broken up into 4 x 20-25 minute sessions many times, with full run groups that can make it almost impossible to get a clean lap. Amenities such as garage access, preferred parking, future clubhouse and bathrooms will make the experience at the track more pleasant and relaxing.
Can I come as a guest?
Yes, we offer a Trial Membership that allows your access to a few member days to get a feel for what it is like. Your fee from the trial membership will be applied should you choose to join. Please contact us at club@palmermsp.com to set up the trial.
